Overview: The adjustment angle of the VVT phase shifter is measured in crankshaft angle (CA) units, and the locking mechanism is compatible with the mainstream hydraulic vane-type structure.

  II. Locking Types and Technical Features

  1. Initial position locking (single-sided locking)

  Structure: Spring-driven locking pin, which locks in the maximum lag/advance position (default lag position) when the engine is shut down.

  Advantages: Low cost, high reliability, and suitable for mid-to-low-end mass-produced models (such as Great Wall 1.5T and General Motors 1.3T).

  Application: The mainstream configuration of the intake-side phase shifter prevents phase misalignment and noise during startup.

  2. Middle-position locking (high-end customization)

  Structure: Dual locking pins + hydraulic pressure control, allowing locking at any position within the 0° to maximum angle range (e.g., 20°CA).

  Advantages: Smoother cold starts and faster warm-up times, suitable for hybrid and high-performance engines (such as BYD DM-i and Volkswagen EA888 Gen4).

  Technical Highlight: Locking accuracy of ±0.5°CA, certified by BorgWarner, and used in joint R&D projects with international automotive manufacturers.

  3. Emergency Locking Function

  When the oil pressure is too low, the system automatically locks into a safe position to prevent the valves from colliding with the pistons, thereby enhancing system redundancy.

 

  III. Supplementary Key Technical Parameters

  Locking mechanism material: Surface anodized treatment (HV500+), with a wear-resistant lifespan of ≥1000 hours in durability testing.

  Oil pressure adaptation range: 3 bar to 8 bar (compatible with mainstream engine oil pressure standards).

  Compatible OCV valve types: side-mounted / center-mounted, supports PWM control, and is compatible with valve bodies from suppliers such as Bosch and Continental.
